The Trump Administration’s Office of Management and Budget is going over changes to Biden-era rules meant to reduce climate pollution from the oil and gas industry.
According to E&E News, the White House is considering major changes backed by industry to 2023 standards meant to reduce emissions of methane, a potent greenhouse gas that is the main component of natural gas.
The standards require companies to do more to find and fix methane leaks, install better pollution controls, and end routine flaring at wells. E&E News reported that the EPA is not expected to propose removing methane requirements completely.
