Pennsylvania House committee to hold hearing Nov. 5 on LNG export terminal

A committee of state legislators will hold a public hearing on a proposed liquified natural gas export terminal near Philadelphia.

The Pennsylvania House Environmental & Natural Resources Committee will hear from speakers with local groups from Pennsylvania and Southwest Louisiana, the epicenter of the LNG export boom in the U.S.

The hearing centers on a proposal by Penn America Energy to build a new LNG export terminal along the Delaware River in Chester, southwest of Philadelphia. If built, the facility would be capable of exporting up to 7.2 million tons of LNG each year.

Invited speakers also include experts from Cornell University, Haverford College, and the PA Utility Law Project.

The hearing will be at 10 a.m. on Nov. 5 at Chester City Hall, 1 Fourth Street, Chester, PA 19013. It will also be livestreamed on YouTube.
