The blanket tariffs the Trump Administration announced Wednesday do not include imports of oil, natural gas, or refined fuels, news outlets reported.
Trump announced broad duties of 10 percent as a baseline on all imported goods, with higher tariffs on imports from dozens of countries, including the U.S.’s main trading partners. But the White House carved out an exception for imported fuels, according to Reuters.
The exception includes oil and gas from Canada and Mexico, the sources of the largest shares of imported crude oil. The oil industry had warned that tariffs on Canadian oil, in particular, would raise fuel prices for Americans.
