A company is proposing a new liquified natural gas (LNG) export terminal near Ingleside, a rapidly industrializing coastal area north of Corpus Christi.

On a piece of undeveloped land less than a half mile from the residential neighborhoods of Ingleside-on-the-Bay, a privately held company called Coastal Bend LNG is planning an export terminal that could process up to 19.2 million metric tons of LNG per year.

The facility would be located about five miles southeast of Corpus Christi LNG, a large export terminal operated by Cheniere whose first phase began operating in late 2018.

Coastal Bend LNG on Aug. 4 began early stages of the process of seeking an application from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for its facility. The company plans to file a fully application in 2027.
