A natural gas pipeline expansion in Pennsylvania and New Jersey began operating last month.
On Aug. 2, 2024, Transcontinental Gas Pipeline Company submitted a notice to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission that the Regional Energy Access Expansion Project was placed into full service on Aug. 1.
The project involved the construction of 36 miles of new pipeline in Luzerne County and Monroe County, Pennsylvania, the construction of a new compressor station in Gloucester County, New Jersey, and modifications at two existing compressor stations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The project increased the capacity of Transco’s existing gas pipeline system, which extends from the Marcellus Shale basin in northeastern Pennsylvania to multiple delivery points in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland, by 829billion cubic feet per year.
