The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission granted a key approval to a pipeline that would supply a power plant converting from burning coal.
On April 2, FERC authorized the Ridgeline Expansion Project in central and eastern Tennessee. The project involved supplying gas to the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Kingston Plant, replacing coal-fired generators with natural gas.
East Tennessee Natural Gas, a subsidiary of Canadian company Enbridge, plans to route the pipeline parallel to its existing pipeline. The project would also involve a compressor station in Trousdale County.
